Meet Jaylen, PPL's new Volunteer Services Coordinator!
Prior to working at PPL, Jaylen completed his bachelor’s degree and worked in many industries and jobs such as a social media intern for Minnesota Recovery Connection, an account manager for State Farm, and as a medical assembler at Boston Scientific.
“Working closely within the community has always been a dream of mine,” Jaylen says. “I am excited to be a part of PPL because I believe this organization does a great job of breaking down the cycle of poverty and putting the community first.”
As the Volunteer Services Coordinator, Jaylen will work to build connections with organizations, schools and members of the community. He will be recruiting and placing volunteers and interns while supporting participants, staff and the PPL community.
“I am excited to get people involved in our programs,” Jaylen says. “After living in Minnesota for four years, I have noticed that this community likes to come together and help each other out as much as they can.”
When asked why he believed volunteering at an organization like PPL mattered, Jaylen referenced a quote from George Washington Carver; “How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.” Jaylen emphasized it is important for everyone to understand that we have the power to build each other up when it comes to serving the community. “A great way to do that is by volunteering with PPL,” Jaylen says.
Prior to joining PPL, Jaylen tried out some new recipes. “The best ones are air-fried cauliflower wings with chipotle aioli and egg roll in a bowl.” Along with cooking, Jaylen has also been able to binge watch TV shows including The Man in the High Castle, That 70s Show, and Ozarks.
We are excited to have Jaylen as a part of our team and look forward to getting to know him better!
