On January 28, 2025, the City of Minneapolis held a press conference to proudly announce that it had once again surpassed $1 billion in construction value. At Project for Pride in Living (PPL), we’re proud to partner in this progress by developing projects that not only provide homes but also uplift communities and create opportunities for residents to thrive.
One of the standout projects from 2024 is Opportunity Crossing. This redevelopment at 3030 Nicollet Ave. is transforming the former Wells Fargo bank site into a vibrant community hub, featuring affordable housing, retail space, and supportive services for families.
Opportunity Crossing will provide 110 affordable homes and help address systemic housing inequities, ensuring more families have a place to call home. As Karla Henderson, PPL’s President and CEO, told those gathered, “This is PPL’s biggest investment to date, and we are a 53-year-old organization.”
The project would not be possible without the City of Minneapolis’ support and investment. With half of the highest-valued projects in Minneapolis this year being affordable housing developments, it shows the city’s dedication to prioritizing the creation of affordable spaces where residents can live with dignity and opportunity.
Speaking of the city’s $1.8 billion construction value, Erik Hansen, Director of Community Planning & Economic Development for the City of Minneapolis, said, “It shows that people in Minneapolis, both residential property owners and business owners, are reinvesting in staying put in Minneapolis.”
City of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey stated, “What this [investment] is signaling is that people want to reinvest in the city of Minneapolis, people believe in Minneapolis, and people want to be part of it.”
At PPL, we look forward to continuing our work with the city and other partners to create vibrant communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
