“The current state of events in the Twin Cities is both tragic and familiar. Jamari Rice—a student killed at his school. And Amir Locke—another young man killed at the hands of police. The loss of more young Black lives is shameful in a community we used to consider safe. This added trauma for these families, and for our entire community is not just additive, it’s exponential. Especially for those of us who work with and live in our BIPOC communities, our hearts are heavy and our spirits are shaken. Now, we all are struggling to breathe. Still, we cannot wish for a solution. We must work for one. We hope we can all regain our individual peace as well as find a way to regain our community peace.”
